Label: JOS JSCD 131 Date: 2003 Tracks: 5 Time = 62:40
Symphony derived from material written for ambitious JULES VERNE ADVENTURES film projects. Composer participates in lengthy voyage of three-masted vessel Belem, tours Amazon rain forests, views volcano in Saint-Pierre, the Azores, other adventures. Upon completion of scoring series of documentaries about experience and recording cues for same, Scott fashions entire symphony, records it as well. Resulting work offers four massive movements: "Crossing the Atlantic", "The Amazon Rain Forest", "Eruption of Mt. Pele", "Whales of Atlantis". As with actual film cues, Scott composes for - in his own words: "adventure, drama, spectacle and mystery". Symphony is rich with melody, flamboyant with color, alternately exciting, reflective, impressive. Also featuring on CD is performance of 1999 "Jules Verne Festival Overture", originally composed for series of Jules Verne Adventures concerts in Paris. Music offers Scott's impression of fantastic Jules Verne world and love of sea. John Scott conducts Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
