The Valor gas insert, with imaginative installation, can add heat without changing the style of the fireplace and the house. 1930's Portland homes typically have fireplace openings that are higher and narrower than we build in today's homes. We developed our own special riser system to elevate the gas insert firebox, so the face plate surround will cover the top of the fireplace opening without using an oversized face plate which would cover up the unique Art Deco tiles. Careful planning and execution sets us apart from the competition...we want to preserve the unique and artful character that we find in so many Portland homes, especially those built in the early 1900's.
