A longtime Portland architect was tired of commuting to his downtown office every day, but not ready to fully retire. His basement was dry and had an ugly brick fireplace. Our installer, Mark, bricked in the fireplace opening to make a home for the Valor Adorn. With some white paint, the ugly fireplace became a warm, cozy focal point for the newly remodeled Home Office.
The Oregonian reported on this basement fireplace remodel, with photos, on December12, 2002, with the headline "Underground Designer, A weary commuter trades downtown for downstairs".
