| BCP - Phase Separation Reagent
The Phase Separation Reagent consists of molecular biology grade 1-bromo-3-chloropropane (BCP). BCP is a less toxic and more efficient phase-separation agent which replaces chloroform in the single-step method of RNA isolation or the simultaneous isolation of RNA, DNA and proteins. Substituting BCP for chloroform does not affect the quality of isolated RNA, DNA or proteins; however the use of BCP as a phase separation reagent may decrease the possibility of contaminating RNA with DNA.
