No More Than 10 Data Files May Be Opened...

MYOB tracks each user’s ID as that user enters and exits MYOB, in a file named locknnnn.flk. These lockfiles are numbered Lock0001-Lock0010. Access01-10 and Access51-60 are also created for the same purpose.

One lockfile is created for each data file opened, and only 10 lockfiles can be created in any one folder. If a user exits a data file using the Exit command under the File menu, the user’s ID is removed from the lockfile. When the last person exits the company file, the lockfile is deleted, along with access01 and access51. If you exit the MYOB program with a method other than the Exit command—using control/alt/delete to end task, for instance—the lockfile and access files will remain. Even though no users have the data file open, the lockfile remains.

All users should exit MYOB by choosing File/Exit or Quit. From the folder where your company’s data file is located, delete files lock0001 through lock0010. Delete all Access01-10 and Access51-60 files that you see also.

  1. Open the folder that contains your MYOB company file. This folder could be on your own hard drive or on your network drive.
  2. Select Lock0001-Lock0010, and delete these files or drag them to the trash.

Note for AccountEdge Network Edition Users Only: After dragging these files to the trash, the host machine must be rebooted and then, the trash must be emptied.

You will now be able to open your company file.

If lockfiles were left behind because of a system or program crash, you should run the Optimization Utility on your company file.
