This joint standard document specifies procedures for designing, applying, and inspecting fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) linings for the internal bottoms of carbon steel aboveground storage tanks (ASTs).

The document provides an overview of general requirements for the successful application of FRP lining systems; definitions of terms used throughout the document; a review of materials used in FRP lining systems; the cleaning and inspection of AST bottoms prior to surface preparation and application; and applicator submission and qualification requirements.

The document states requirements for surface preparation and cleaning; the application of holding primers, caulking and coving, and laminates; wet film thickness measurement; FRP lining inspection, testing, and repair; ventilation, dehumidification, and lighting; and other related functions.
