This commentary summarizes and presents a general description of the SSPC Painting System (PS) and Coating System (CS) documents, of which there are three types: complete painting systems, painting system guides, and performance-based painting system material specifications. The SSPC documents of this type were developed only for steel, not for wood or concrete. This commentary is for information only and is not part of any standard, guide, or specification.
