I'm Joseph! I'm Ready for my forever home! (or a Foster Home!)

Joseph is a Lab-Chow-Greyhound mix, 42 pounds (mid-sized dog), Shiny, soft black coat, 15 months old, VERY loving!

At just 6-weeks old, Joseph was brought to a rescue and was sick with Parvo. The Rescue Vet was able to save him and Joseph is ready to find a forever home.

Joseph is a very loving and sweet dog. He loves to be held like a toddler on your hip and craves attention from his human family. He is full of energy and makes an excellent walking or running partner. (Click on Joseph to read more!)

Joseph is a very loving and sweet dog. He loves to be held like a toddler on your hip and craves attention from his human family. He is full of energy and makes an excellent walking or running partner.

Joseph will be “special needs” for a short time. He needs to be fully trained and taught, through positive reinforcement, that he does not have to fend for himself… that there is a human leader to ensure his safety.

Joseph was fostered for 4 months by a foster-mom who had two other dogs. He was making wonderful progress – he learned to sit, wait for his food, walk on a leash/harness and had learned not to be destructive when the foster-mom was away and he was not crated. This foster situation is no longer available due to a tussle with one of the foster’s dogs. Joseph has been returned to the rescue/clinic kennel.

While the people at the kennel are very loving, the environment is not a good one for him. The tension and excitement level is far too high for Joseph to remain calm and continue to develop normally. If you would like to make Joseph a part of your family, please call me. If you can only foster for him for a while, that would be great too. Until he’s fully trained, we recommend Joseph be in a home where he is the only dog and there are no small children.

Brown Dog Foundation will pay for 75% of 4 training sessions with Middle Tennessee Dog Psychology to introduce Joseph to his new home and help get the family off to a successful start, and we will pay up to 75% for first 6 months of his medications (he can eventually come off these meds). Joseph’s foster-mom will also pet-sit (at your home) at no charge whenever his adoptive family needs to go out of town.

A home visit and follow up visits are required with this adoption.
