William is a wood turner. He uses wood from all over the world to make turned wood items. Some of his items can be built in a few hours and segmented (glued up and turned) bowls could take weeks to complete. When he started turning he liked the fact that simple projects could be built quickly. Everything he creates is turned on a lathe. He makes bowls, pepper grinders, coffee mills, rolling pins, bird houses, pens and pencils, ash urns, and what nots. He is mainly self taught. He read books and watched educational videos on wood turning. He is a member of the Azalea Wood Turners Club. During their meetings, they have demonstrators who show them tricks and techniques for wood turning. William has been a wood turner for thirty years. The most rewarding aspect of this part of his life is making beautiful items that people appreciate. His work is also available on personal request or custom made items.
