1v1 Ownership to taking lead role for Brazilian Soccer Schools and Socatots in Canada
First of all, on behalf of 1v1 Soccer, we would like wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. We trust that you will all have a safe and enjoyable holiday season with your families.
We also wished to share some exciting news with everyone. On a day like today, it makes us all yearn for the beach and the sun on our backs. While we cannot provide you with a beach experience on the Copacabana beach in Rio (and there would be a few takers today !) we can offer you the opportunity in the new year, to enjoy the Brazilian Soccer training experience.
In the coming days, we will be launching two new website's to keep you advised of our new programs. The main website at www.1v1soccer.com will be announcing our new 2009 House League Program and will be dedicated to our community programs such as House-League and schools programs. Registration will be available online next week for our 2009 season.
All other training program information will be located on our new Brazilian Soccer School site at www.icfds.com/burlington
We hope that you will have a look at the new programs, view the BBC documentaries on the new BSS program and feel free to ask us any questions. We have enclosed a formal announcement below.
Thank you for your support in 2008 and once again, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
Ian Ian McClurg, 1v1 Director of Coaching
RELEASE
1v1 Soccer to re-brand as Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS)
Friday, 19 December 2008 1v1 Soccer is delighted to announce that it will be following the Brazilian Soccer School (BSS) training model, beginning in the New Year. 1v1 Soccer, which has been in operation since 2000, will now be part of the world’s largest player development program in the world, which coaches 1 million children and is offered in 63 countries worldwide.
In addition, 1v1 Soccer has teamed up with another ownership group that will be responsible for implementing other BSS and Socatots training centers across the country. This will provide thousands of Canadian youngsters with the opportunity to develop their technical skills using training methods that have developed many professional players. BSS began in 1996 when Simon Clifford travelled to Brazil, on the recommendation of then Middlesbrough player Juninho, to unlock the secrets to the nation's continued successes. Having met with the likes of Zico, Pele, Jairzinho and Rivelino, Simon returned with Futebol de Salao, a small-sided game played with a weighted size two football, and it was this that many of the former greats had identified as the key to their development.
Twelve years on, and there are currently over one million children globally that regularly attend BSS sessions, with centres now established in Australia, Holland, Thailand, Nigeria and United States among others.
Micah Richards (Manchester City and England), Theo Walcott (Arsenal and England), Aidan White (Leeds United) and John Bostock (Tottenham Hotspur and England) are just a few of the professionals to have benefitted from BSS methods, with thousands below them waiting to break into the professional game.
On the new direction, Ian McClurg, 1v1 Director of Coaching, said: "This represents a tremendous opportunity for all Canadian youth players. The best players in the world and those that enjoy the game the most all have great technique, ball control and skill. We have been following the success of this program for over 5 years now, and believe that this is the best coaching program available to produce talented young players for the future”.
Socatots programs, for players aged 6 months-5 years are already available in the Hamilton area www.socatotots.com/burlingtonhamilton and a new BSS website www.icfds.com/burlington will be containing information on our new BSS programs. To learn more about the new coaching program, we encourage you all to visit the main corporate website

There is a BBC documentary video on the history of the program.
BBC's "A Whole New Ball Game"
A BBC crew followed Simon to Brazil in 1996 on his journey to discover the roots and history of the game of Futebol de Salão. Simon spent 3 months in Brazil meeting with many of the past greats of Brazilian football. Simon spent time learning from legends such as Zico, Rivelino and Careca as well as studying for his Brazilian Coaching Badges. Whilst in Brazil, Simon met with many officials and administrators of the game including staff at CEPEUSP, Sao Paulo, Botofogo, Palmeiras and Flamengo football clubs. The programme was screened by the BBC initially in early 1997 and has been re-screened several times since.
