overviewpurch07.jpg Title: An Overview of Contract Bidding Requirements for North Carolina Local Governments, September 2007

Link to free, PDF version of the September 2007 edition. To order hard copy for $22.00, click “Add to Cart” button.

Formerly published under the title An Outline of Statutory Provisions Controlling Purchasing by Local Governments in North Carolina, this publication is an easy-to-use reference for purchasing officials and others interested in the public contracting process. It gives readers a general introduction to the statutory procedures that govern contracting by local government agencies and serves as a "roadmap" through these procedures. Legislation effective July 27, 2005, changed the coverage of the informal bidding statute, G.S. 143-131. The new edition covers those changes and also incorporates 2007 legislative changes.

Updates to this and other School publications can be found at the Publication Updates and Supplements Page.
