Installing WinCruise Professional

INTRODUCTION

This article will detail how to install WinCruise Professional Software.

 

SUMMARY

WinCruise Professional™ is a 32-bit Windows®-based software package designed for travel agencies. It allows agents to track clients and vendors, create bookings for tours and cruises, manage group inventory, and manage bank accounts. This software automates the most common services provided by today’s travel agencies.

 

Before you start the installation, it is important that you know:

 

     • If you are installing as a Standalone system, a Server, or a Workstation

     • The proper network login information if installing a Server or Workstation.

     • Which computer will be installed as the WinCruise Server, if applicable, and the     “Computer Name?”

     • The version of Windows installed on each of your computers.

 

Download WinCruise 

    1. Using your internet browser go to www.wincruise.com
    2. Click on the Downloads page, and then "WinCruise Professional Full Installation"
    3. Save the file "wcpfull.exe" to your computer, making note of the location where it's saved.

WinCruise Professional Installation

    1. Close any programs currently running on your computer. 
    2. Login to your network as applicable. 
    3. From the Windows desktop click on START->SETTINGS->CONTROL PANEL.
    4. Double click Add/Remove Programs. 
    5. Click the Add New Programs or Install button depending on your version of Microsoft Windows. 
    6. Choose the appropriate button to browse to the location of wcpfull.exe 
    7. Chose FINISH. The INSTALLSHIELD® WIZARD will launch. 
    8. When the WELCOME dialog displays, click NEXT. 
    9. LICENSE AGREEMENT: Select “I accept....” and click NEXT. 
    10. CUSTOMER INFORMATION: Enter the User Name and Organization (Optional). Select whether you want to install for any user (default) or only the current user and Click NEXT. 
    11. Select the DESTINATION FOLDER for the WinCruise program.   Note: by default this will be C:\Program Files\WinCruise. It is suggested that you click CHANGE and install WinCruise at C:\WinCruise.) This will make it easier in the future when you run updates, since the update will default to this location. Click NEXT to proceed. 
    12. Select the location of the WinCruise database folder.  If you install the program to C:\WinCruise, the default for the data location will be C:\WinCruise\Data. If you do not wish to fully install WinCruise on the C: drive, we suggest you install the program to C:\WinCruise and the data on a different drive such as D:. Click NEXT to proceed.
    13. Select the appropriate install type:
      1. Server Program and database reside here. All WinCruise software maintenance performed on this computer
      2. Workstation Program only resides here, only select this if you already have installed WinCruise as a server on another computer.
    14. After selecting appropriate install type, click NEXT
    15. READY TO INSTALL THE PROGRAM will display. Click INSTALL.
    16. INSTALLSHEILD WIZARD COMPLETED will display. Click FINISH. 
    17. If installing a SERVER: Share the WinCruise data folder. See your Windows documentation or Windows help menu for specific help with this procedure.  Note: If your server is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional, also set the Security options on the WinCruise folder so all users have full control.
    18. The WinCruise icon will now appear on your desktop. To Launch WinCruise, double-click the icon or select START->PROGRAMS->WINCRUISE->WINCRUISE PRO 
    19. The WINCRUISE SETUP WIZARD will display the data path.  In a standalone installation: the data path should read C:\WinCruise\Data\ or the data path you established during installation should be displayed.  Click Next. In a SERVER and WORKSTATION installation: the data path should read \\yoursernamehere\WinCruise\data or click BROWSE to select the correct path. Browse through MY NETWORK PLACES or NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD to the location of your WINCRUISE\DATA folder on the server and click OKOnce the correct UNC DATA PATH is selected, click NEXT. 
    20. Complete the fields on the 2nd page of the WINCRUISE SETUP WIZARD. Press TAB to move from one field to the next. When finished, click NEXT.
      1. Office Code Enter a 3-digit code for your agency. Typically this is 001.
      2. Account Code Enter the account code provided in the fax you receive from WinCruise, Inc.
      3. Agency Name Enter the name of your agency.
    21. The final page of the SETUP WIZARD will appear. Ensure your internet connection is active and click the REGISTER button. When the REGISTRATION CODE is filled in click FINISH.   NOTE: If you do not have internet access, call the support telephone number for WinCruise, Inc. Support personnel will then provide you with your REGISTRATION CODE. Type in these code, pressing TAB to move from field to field.
    22. The SET COMPLETE dialog will display. Click OK.
    23. To start WinCruise, double-click the WinCruise Pro icon.
    24. At the LOGIN SCREEN type in the AGENT CODE (ADM at initial install) and press Tab.  Type in the PASSWORD (admin at initial install) and click OKNOTE: You can add users and change passwords after you have logged in as ADM. If you’ve already added users, they should login with their own AGENT CODE.
