Since 2001, Jon Cone has been racing motorcycles as an adult. Best accomplishment to date is 2nd place overall in the 2004 NETA Novice championship. Currently, Cone races an air-cooled v-twin Ducati M900 and a two-stroke Aprilia RS250 in the Loudon Road Racing Series at the New Hampshire International Speedway. Quote: "Its simple really. You just twist the throttle until it stops, grab the front brake as hard as possible, lean over until you feel metal grinding, and hope that no one runs into you."

2007 Season underway!: I'm racing the Aprilia 250 2-stroke Challenge in its stock form in LW Superbike, GT Lights, Lightweight Grand Prix, Formula 40, and Ultra Lightweight Superbike. The Ducati has been retired from racing. The Aprilia has a tremendous power to weight ratio, and at just a little over 300lbs wet with fuel has much greater cornering speed than the Ducati. The Aprilia's narrow powerband makes for one of the most challenging as well as exciting racing bikes to ride fast.

"Loudon is known as one of the most technical and difficult racetracks in America. Its 1.6 mile tight, hilly and bumpy course is physically and mentally demanding, requiring lots of concentration and preparation from the rider. Due to the track's nature: tight and requiring so much from the rider, results are close and exciting. At Loudon, there is not much of margin for error, you need a bike that stops and accelerates well. You don't necessarily need a bike that runs good top speed, but you need to be able to accelerate out of the corner. If you can go fast at Loudon, you can go fast anywhere!"
