The weather was great but my clutch decided to go on permanent vacation after 2nd practice Saturday. It had been slipping a bit the weekend before. I had been trying to get clutch plates from Steve at Rising Sun Cycles but Japan was on holiday for a week (really, the whole country). Under advice from the more experienced guys I took the dry clutch plates out, cleaned & sanded them in between 1st & 2nd practice. Just got it back together in time when my 2nd practice started, so, threw the leathers on & jumped on the bike & got out for 4 or 5 laps. The clutch was still slipping little & when I got back to the garage I looked down at the bike & I was missing my body work. For a split second I was like......what? Oops, in my haste I forgot to put it on.
I decided to try the race on Saturday LWSS-NV, but the clutch would just spin when the power valves opened. So after 3 laps just tried to ride it shifting up just as the PV's kicked in & use the rest of the race as practice.
Here's my silver lining, I caught up to 2 riders who where in LWSM (I got a really bad start) & finally got past one, so I did have someone to race with. I placed 12th out of 18 in class & 19th over all out of 30. Not great but considering?
I have my new clutch plates, here's looking at next week.
