Ellen Dorn Levitt attended the Maryland Institute and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Johnson State College. She has also studied at Penland School of Crafts, St. Michael’s College and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.
For the past thirteen years Ellen has taught digital design, printmaking and the book arts at Lyndon Institute. She is also an adjunct teacher at Lyndon State College, where she teaches the book arts. She has taught surface design and bookmaking workshops nationally. As a surface designer for many years she designed for Garnet Hill, Samii, and Thorpe Designs of New York City. Ellen has work for and collaborated with the Janus Press on several book and broadside projects for the last five years. In 2002 Ellen established the Center Press at Lyndon Institute, Lyndon Center, Vermont.
Her work has been published in American Craft and Surface Design Journal and her work has been exhibited at places such as Penland School of Crafts, Fiber Art Guild of Pittsburgh, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the Center of Contemporary Arts in St. Louis, Missouri.
