President and Master Printer of Cone Editions Press

Jon Cone, President and Master Printer of Cone Editions Press is widely regarded as a pioneer in digital printmaking and one of its most knowledgeable and skilled practitioners. He began his education in the 1970s at Ohio University School of Art, studying photography under Arnold Gassan. Cone began his career as a collaborative printer in NYC prior to establishing his own studio in 1980.

He has been a visiting professor or/and lecturer at the Royal College of Art in London, State University of NY at Purchase, Arizona State University, Goddard College and Ohio University. He is a cofounder of The Studio at SIGGRAPH conference (formerly the Guerilla Gallery). He was IRIS Graphics, Inc, Development and Marketing Partner for Fine Arts from 1993 - 1997. He has been training digital print professionals since 1993 and has held printmaking workshops since 1990. When he was Marketing and Development Partner in Fine Arts for IRIS Graphics, he was the first developer of quad black inks and software for inkjet printers and was recognized for this pioneering work by Photo District News in 1999 as one of the five "Digital Innovators of the Year". He later founded the Piezography brand of monochromatic inkjet software and inks for EPSON® printers.

As a collaborator he has made more than 125 traditional media editions for many important contemporary painters and sculptors. As a photogravure printer he has editioned works for more than 30 photographers and artists. His digital studio has been printing inkjet extensively for artists since 1992. Jon is still a practicing photographer who has fully embraced the digital workflow.
