Visiting Professor, School of Art, Nanyang Technological University 11/9/2011 6:42 am I just want to let you know how wonderful the Piezography Special Edition inks that I am now using are. They are smooth, pure, translucentÉ gorgeous! I am sure you remember Agfa Portrega Rapid. I used that paper for years and loved it when Selenium toned. Well, these inks and Canson Rag Photographique look like toned Portrega. I just did a 20 print series to send to the Guggenheim. I have never been happier with work I have sent off. And the dither! There were a couple of images I was trying to do with ImagePrint and I couldn't get the sky (a smooth, dark grey) to print without streaks. With the Piezography workflow, those problem areas are gone! Absolutely smooth tones!!!!
Artist 11/9/2011 6:42 am It's hard for me to conceive of ever putting a Piezography print under glass. The sensuous luxury of tonalities would be obscured. Holding a Piezography print in your hands and marveling at the surface and depth should be enough for anyone who appreciates a fine print. That's more than enough for me.
owner at LeshemLoft 9/24/2011 10:29 am Great ink ! beautiful B&W prints - hi res , amazing details in highlights , beautiful gradations and depth. From my experience of few years with the ink it is more reliable then the original epson ink on the 3800 and we are going to dedicate soon a 9900 for B&W prints with the special edition inks . I would recommend the ink for anyone trying to get that unique great look of a dark room print with a digital workflow.
Photographer; Gallery founder 7/29/2011 6:53 am This is a drop dead gorgeous set of inks that gets "wow" reactions from professional photographers I've shown prints to at ICP, for example. It just has a subtle transition of the tones that works well with almost all of my street and fine art work, in particular the latter. Next going to print a Cuba portfolio with this for example, to show at a local gallery. I've never had a problem with clogging with this ink even letting it sit for a couple of weeks unused. I also follow Jon's recommendations on using flush cartridges when I don't print for long periods as that has proven easy to do and works perfectly for restarting the printers. Now use it in a 4800 as well. Couldn't recommend it more highly to anyone who started with silver gelatin and wants to recapture the magic look of lucious black and white prints.

This Piezography ink set was specially blended by Jon Cone for split-tones that displays crisp neutral highlights which meld into selenium which melds into sepia shadows with a clear black. The end result of this split-toning is to look very much like traditional platinum/palladium. The split toning adds a natural contrast to the ink. Cone originally released this ink to commemorate the printmaking process he developed for the Ashes and Snow exhibitions for photographer, Gregory Colbert. The blending of Piezography inks is possible when a shade of one tone is mixed with the same shade of another tone. All Piezography ink sets use the same QTR curves. While this may be the most beautiful ink set that Piezography has released, it also serves as an example to what can be done by mixing the shades of ink together.

Special Edition recipe:
Shade 1 is our traditional shade 1 black
Shade 2 is Carbon
Shade 3 is 75/25 Carbon/Selenium
Shade 4 is 50//50 Carbon/Selenium
Shade 5 is Selenium
Shade 6 is Neutral
Shade 7 is Neutral

"The most beautiful print color since Agfa Brovira, perfect screen match, tack sharp, deep and detailed shadows... Spectacular product."
