picture layout

layout
The layout is where you save paper. ImageNest features a "Best Fit" nesting that will instantly and efficiently layout all your files to save the most paper. No software or Photo RIP can nest/fit as quickly or efficiently. All RIP features happen instantly and will work on all file formats.

Layout controls in main interface: With version 1.2 ImageNest will now have its Mac Layout controls directly in the layout interface so they are always available to the users. No more going to the Layout Button to configure your layout on the fly. Everything is right in front of your eyes.

Integrated Page Setup: Version 1.2 also now has the printer and page setup integrated directly into the layout controls so switching printer and paper sizes can be done without going to the menu or any sub-dialogs. This makes switching printer and papers sizes easier and also always displays your current size so you never have to go to a sub-dialog to see it.

Best Fit Nesting: ImageNest can layout files more efficiently than any other program! Our nesting algorithm if finely tuned to find every inch of available space and fit your images as efficiently as possible. Best fit nesting will maximize your layout resulting in huge savings on paper. Speed is also one of the hallmarks of our software RIP. Layouts are done instantly!

Resolution and Color Independence: Unlike Photo Editing programs like PhotoShop, ImageNest can mix different file types, resolutions, and Embedded Profiles in a single layout. Users can place a CMYK EPS next to a RGB DNG, next to a RGB TIFF. Our Mac Layout allows complete versatility. Many photo editors require that images all be of the same file type and resolution. ImageNest allows you to work with any file you need in the same layout.

Margin In Between Image Control: ImageNest has a great control for setting the offset in between the multiple images in your layout. This allows users to have the desired amount of white space in between their images allowing for proper framing and accurate photo borders. This control can be changed anytime on the fly and is instantaneous.

Crop Marks: ImageNest includes a wide selection of crop marks that can automatically be added to all images in the layout. Cut marks are great for putting a professional looking border around your images and for making cutting very easy. Cut marks can be offset to add the proper amount of distance from your image to the cut marks.

Single Page Fitting: ImageNest is the only software RIP on the market that will fit images to multiple single pages. A user can select an unlimited amount of Images, select a page size, and have those images automatically centered or centered with offset on a single page. A great feature for portrait and wedding photographers. It takes all the time of sizing and fitting and cuts it down to seconds.

Fine Art Bottom Weighting: ImageNest has the ability to automatically bottom weight images for a fine art offset. We use the same formula as the most popular framing companies to ensure that you get a finished product with a perfect fine art offset.

Delete and Delete all: Our Mac Layout allows users to easily delete any image added to the layout or to quickly delete every image in the layout.

Customizable Toolbar: ImageNest has a customizable OSX toolbar that users can configure according to their own wishes. As a true Cocoa application and RIP, ImageNest is able to take advantage of all the great tools that OSX has to offer.

batch sizing

size Everyones times is precious and with our Image Sizing and batch image sizing features you get your printing done in 1/10 of the time it would take you in photoshop. And unlike Photoshop or Lightroom you can place RGB images next to CMYK images and 300 DPI images next to 250 DPI images. ImageNest can handle it all.

• Selecting Images: The add images dialog is a standard Mac dialog that will allow you to navigate to any folder or device to select images. Multiple images can be selected by using the shift key and clicking on any image you wish to add to the layout.

• Auto-sizing Images: Choose the size you wantyour images to be. The "Original Size" setting will leave

dialog box

them untouched. You can create your own custom preset sizes by selecting the "Customize" option in the auto sizing pull down menu.

• Fit To Size: When using the “Resize to Fit” files will automatically have their aspect ratio maintained and if they do not fit into the specified selection made in the "Fit to Size" dialog they will be scaled to as close to the selected size as possible while maintaining aspect ratio. The file will not be cropped in any way.

Example: Original Image 8 by 10
Fit to Fill 5 by 7’
Final Size 5 by 6.5 (since an 8 by 10 picture can not be perfectly fit into 5 by 7)

For more information of fit to fill click here: Fit to Size

• Fit To Fill: When "Fit to fill" is used, a files aspect ratio may not be in correct proportion to the specified size. When not in perfect proportion a file can be cropped at the edges. The user than has the option to move the picture within the outlines of the "Fill" box to line it up any way they wish. The amount cropped is small and the user always has control over what part of the images is cut off. Use the "Hand" tool in the "Image Selection Options" dialog to move an image inside of its box.

Example: Original Image 8 by 10
Fit to Fill 5 by 7’
FInal size: 5.6 by 7 image centered in a 5 by 7 box. Image can be moved within the box to choose what parts will be cropped off when added to the layout.

dng

Print the corrected embedded JPG file inside DNG files: DNG files contain 2 major imaging components. The Camera RAW data (which is the original data that a camera recorded) and a JPG file that contains a bitmap image of all the corrections that have been made to the Camera RAW file.

Take advantage of a DNG workflow! The best Camera RAW conversion is done by the Camera Manufacturers conversion software since they know the inner workings of their camera. But if you take the DNG file to another application then your edits are no longer avaialble. With ImageNest, if you save your Camera RAW files as DNG Files you can print the edits you made.

The Original Camera RAW data is flat and a bit underexposed in this Image so we edited the data and saved a DNG file.

printer support

rip Free yourself from Tyranny ! For years every time you bought a new printer you had to pay an expensive RIP upgrade--or worse, your current RIP did not support your new printer and you had to buy a new RIP. All that has changed with ImageNest. We support every printer that runs on Mac OSX and will never have an upgrade fee to support a new printer. Also, did I mention that we give free updates as well. No other RIP can make that promise.

Printing of Embedded JPG files inside DNG files: DNG files contain 2 major imaging components. The Camera RAW data (which is the original data that a camera recorded) and a JPG file that contains a bitmap image of all the corrections that have been made to the Camera RAW file. ImageNest is the ONLY RIP on the market that will extract the JPG files and print them. This is a major leap forward in making a full DNG workflow into a reality.

Supports Every Printer on Mac OSX:ImageNest is unique in the fact that we support every printer that runs on Mac OSX 10.4.1 or above. Customers are never locked in to a particular printer or model with ImageNest. If a customer purchases a new printer, support for that printer does not cost anything extra. If a customer has ten printers, ImageNest will support all of them. This includes support for brand new printers such as the Epson 7900.

Supports Every File Format: ImageNest is also unique in the incredibly wide support we have for different file formats. Here is Just a Partial listing:

PhotoGraphic file formats: JPEG, TIFF, DNG (Digital Negative), Camera RAW, PSD
        (PhotoShop
Document) PNG, PICT, BMP, TGA (Targa), JPEG 2000, and more !

Graphic Arts/Pre Press formats: PS (PostScript® level 3), PDF, PDF-X, EPS, AI (Adobe
Illustrator Native Format), and more !

Supports Multiple Printers Simultaneously: ImageNest allows printing to as many printers as your computer can handle, and all at the same time. No extra license fees, no additional cost.

ICC Compliant: ImageNest is 100% ICC compliant and will respect all embedded profiles or allow you to assign profiles to images in the layout. Device Independent Color is always preserved. ImageNest can handle both RGB and CMYK Profiles.

MetaData Info: ImageNest can display all meta data that may be embedded in an image. This includes the wide variety of meta data that is available in Camera RAW and DNG images. Data can easily be accesed from the Rip Layout tool bar or the Crop Scale toolbar.
