2. Turn on radio with software (varies by wireless software vendor)

Symptom: Adapter disabled
Troubleshooting:

1. Go to Start»Control Panel»System»Hardware tab»Device Manager. Expand Network Adapters, right-click on Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connection, and click 'Enable' if that choice is available. Microsoft Windows* may require you to reboot. Alternatively, navigate to Start»Connect to»Show all connections. Right-click on Intel PRO/Wireless
2. Network Connection, and click 'Enable' if that choice is available.

Symptom: Can see access point (AP) or wireless broadband router but unable to connect
Troubleshooting:

1. If shared authentication is configured, ensure passphrase or pre-shared key matches on mobile device and AP. This would be applicable if using WEP, WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal.
2. Do you have an IP address? Verify by referencing AP vendor documentation or contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

1. Contact your OEM or other point of purchase for the following potential causes:
1. Network card not seated correctly
2. Defective network card
3. BIOS not configured correctly

Symptom: Poor or no signal strength
Troubleshooting:

1. Contact your OEM or other point of purchase for the following potential causes:
1. Antenna loose or disconnected
2. Defective network card
2. Verify there is a functioning AP or router in close proximity.

Symptom: Corrupted or outdated driver
Note: Software and driver updates are the number one source of issue resolution
Troubleshooting:

1. Contact your OEM or other point of purchase first for updated software and drivers.
2. Generic wireless adapter software and drivers for Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connections can be found at http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/.

Symptom: Persistent disconnects, reconnecting and other stability issues
Troubleshooting:

1. Contact your OEM or other point of purchase first for updated software and drivers.
2. Check for possible sources of interference, particularly if using IEEE* 802.11 wireless adapters operating in the 2.4 GHz spectrum. Sample interference sources: cordless phones, microwave ovens, Bluetooth* devices, other 802.11 wireless networks, etc.
3. Ensure your AP or router is functioning properly. Check with your manufacture for firmware upgrades or replacement of a defective product.
4. Set Power-Save Poll (PSP) to Continuously Aware Mode (CAM) in the PC's wireless software power savings configuration area. It should be noted your battery life will decrease more rapidly if not connected to a power outlet. Refer to this technical note regarding access points and PSP: PSP (Power Save Polling) Causes Connection Issues With Some Access Points.
5. Ensure the roaming aggressiveness setting in the adapter properties is NOT set to minimum or maximum (seldom should you have a need to set roaming aggressiveness to other than the default middle setting). If the AP/router has radio management or other features where the AP/router conducts off-channel scanning, or a similar activity, disable that feature and see if the problem persists.
